Announcing our Shabby Chic Collection

Izzop Gifts is thrilled to announce the introduction of its newest product category, our Shabby Chic collection.

When we first discussed the introduction of this line, we were very curious as to the true meaning of Shabby Chic and how this would complement our current offerings. So we did some digging!

Shabby Chic was coined by Rachel Ashwell in the mid 1980’s. By looking at the true definition of the term, you start to understand its current wave of popularity.

First off, “Shabby” by true definition is: showing conspicuous signs of wear or neglect. Ok, this is understandable, I have clothing that fits that definition! Now add “Chic” which is a French word and has come to mean, smart or stylish.

What you end up with, currently known as Shabby Chic, is a stylish display of worn or neglected décor. According to Wikipedia, “The essence of shabby chic style is vintage and antique furniture painted white (or another soft pastel color) and distressed at the corners by sanding”.

Well I think the collection we have put together fits the definition perfectly and does add a very attractive and complementary addition to our current offers.

We hope you take a moment and visit our new selection of Shabby Chic offerings and let us know your thoughts.
